Overview:

This article shows how to download Blackboard Collaborate Ultra recordings to your local computer in an MP4 file format.

Downloading a Blackboard Collaborate Recording as MP4

  1. Navigate to the Collaborate Ultra area of the D2L course (Communications > Collaborate Ultra).

  2. Click the menu button to expand the menu toolbar and choose "Recordings" from the sidebar.

  3. Click the "options" button for the recording that you wish to download and choose "Download" from the list of options.

  4. Save the .MP4 video file to your computer.

Note: All recordings download with the same name ("collab-reocrding.mp4"). Please rename your files as you download them! You may want to include the orignial meeting date and time in your file name so you know when the session was recorded.

Streaming Videos for Student Access

If you wish to share the recording with others, we recommend uploading the file to Mediasite or another streaming service for sharing. We DO NOT recommend uploading the .MP4 file to D2L as it will cause course slowness, course copy problems, and timeouts for students.
